July has arrived! This means fun in the sun, warmer weather and more things to get into. However, an all too familiar complaint from the people of Charlotte is, “where do I find the stuff to get into?” So, I decided to come up with a small list of things for creatives and us “artsy, fartsy” individuals to check out in the Queen City for the month of July.
July 12th: “Charlotte DJ Battle”
Come out to Dupp&Swatt @ Camp North End at 8 pm this month to hear some of Charlotte’s dopest DJ’s (DJ Zio, DJ Fannie Mae, DJ DOMii & DJ Glory). Charlotte DJ Battle’s final 4 DJ’s will be rocking the city and battling for $1,000, prizes and the chance to be crowned the QC DJ. The tickets are FREE.99 and can be obtained at cltdjbattle.com.
July 12th: “I love the 2000’s”
Brought to you by DJ Fannie Mae at the Underground Fillmore @10pm; be sure to check out the “I Love the 2000’s” show. It’s a walk through our teenage memories through song and dress. PURE nostalgia!! DJ Fannie will be spinning 2000’s hits from the likes of B2K, Bow Wow, Backstreet Boys, N’sync, and much more. July 20th: “Day of Peace”
Everything doesn’t have to be a ticketed event. Sometimes it’s nice to have EVERYONE present. With that being said, be sure to stop by the “Day of Peace” at the Hornets Nest Park. It’s a community cookout and kickball game. The cooking will start promptly at Noon and the Kickball game will start at 1 pm. If you don’t want to eat or participate in the game, go for the sole purpose of communing and socializing. Hornet’s Nest Park is located at 6301 Beatties Ford Rd, Charlotte, NC 28216.
July 20th: “Silent Disco Party”
Silent Disco Parties are a fairly new fad. In a nutshell, it’s a room full of music/dancing fanatics, wearing music-BLAIRING headphones. The only way to hear the music from the DJ’s is by having on the headphones. Located at Savona Mill at 7 pm, be sure to go check and this event. July 28th: “The Session”
Tweet and BRAVE Ent. Present The Session at Heist Brewery. Doors open at 7:30 pm and the show begins promptly at 8:30 pm. The Session is a monthly open mic with special featured guest performers. This month’s featured artists include Cyanca, and The Hamiltones. It’s a good time and a good vibe on a warm July night in the QC.
